My training began in my mother's kitchen, moved from there to a research bench, and now continues in a kitchen of cake artistry...the best of both worlds. I am formally trained in cardiovascular pharmacology, having received my doctoral degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. I completed a post-doctoral research fellowship and worked as a research scientist in the field of vascular disease at The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. I subsequently returned to my home state of Texas, making my home in the Austin area to transition into the biotech world. Life has moved on, and we find ourselves relocated to NE Texas, serving the Tyler/Longview area while still taking wedding and other large event orders in the Austin and Dallas metro areas.
I am a self-taught cake artist, always challenging myself to try new things and improve my skill level. I tell my clients that the sky is the limit... let's go for it and create something really special. With more than 12 years in business and more than 30 years experience in creating special cakes and other confections, I enjoy helping others' dreams come true. I like to think that my scientific background and experience have prepared me for problem solving as well as exploring the unknown...with a little artistic perfectionism thrown in for good measure.
